Phytoestrogens and Breast EnhancementWhat are Phytoestrogens? The prefix "phyto" is from the Greek prefix "phyton" meaning "plant" hence plant oestrogen. Phytoestrogens are a group of naturally occurring compounds that have a chemical structure very similar to oestrogen. Oestrogen is a hormone that is necessary for the normal sexual development and growth of the breasts, uterus and ovaries. Oestrogen's access to reproductive tissue ie breast and endometrial, is controlled by oestrogen receptors that act as gatekeepers. Only oestrogen or substances with a close structural resemblance to oestrogen are permitted to bind. Therefore the photoestrogens (which are similar to oestrogen) can pass through these gatekeepers unnoticed and bind with the receptors, helping to balance the female hormones. Phytoestrogens through their natural balance of female hormones promote the development of glandular breast tissue. Most women taking herbs containing these phytoestrogens notice a significant increase in size, fullness and balance of their breast.
Fenugreek (Foenum-graecum) This important herb is high in phytoestrogenic properties, and has been used for many years by natural healers to help promote breast development and lactation. Fenugreek contains steroidal saponins, these are the essential building blocks for female steroids.
Dong Quai (Angelica sinensis) Is the one of the most widely used herbs in Chinese medicine specifically for female symptoms. This herb has been used by Asian women for almost every gynecological complaint including, premenstrual and menopausal symptoms. Again rich in photoestrogens.
Mexican Wild Yam (Discorea Villosa) Contains diosgenin which serves as a key role in the synthesis of hormones, this herb also promotes breast tissue growth. Wild Yam also contains a phytonutrient similar to phytoestrogen but is in fact phytoprogesterone, which is in itself an import ingredient in regulating a woman's glandular system.
Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens) Although most commonly used as a treatment for men suffering from prostrate trouble, this plant is also renowned for its tissue building properties.
Fennel Seed (Foenum vulgare) Has been used for centuries to enhance breast size and to promote milk production (in new mothers). This plant is very rich in phytoestrogens. |
